Rowy van Hest
Although my father was a music teacher, I didn’t begin learning to play an instrument until I was sixteen. By eighteen, I had completed a concerto for strings, and at nineteen, I was accepted into the Brabant Conservatory of Music in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Initially, I composed experimental music, but a few years after finishing my studies, I returned to my roots. Since then, I have focused on writing tonal music.
I consider myself multi-talented. As a teenager, I had to choose between studying at the conservatory of music and attending the art academy. I chose the conservatory but never stopped drawing. Throughout my life, I have developed as an artist—feel free to check out a small collection of my drawings.
In addition to my compositions, I have also created numerous arrangements, including hundreds of classical ringtones, all of which are available for free.
I’m also a writer, but I only write in Dutch. One of my books is titled Modern Times, and this book is free as well. I believe art should be accessible to everyone.
