When analyzing a tonal composition, you might come across a chord that you do not immediately recognize. What function does it have according to classical analysis? What chord is it in popular notation?
For this purpose, a web app has been built that can provide clarity on no fewer than 13,884 different chords in 12 × 16 keys and 312 chord types.
Please note that some chords are surrounded by embellishing tones. These do not change the nature or function of the chord. It is best to ignore these tones when entering your chord. A chord may also be broken. In art music, chords rarely consist of simple stackings. Therefore, you will need some experience in reading a score.
